Open Call for Solo Exhibition in New Williamsburg Restaurant

Arts By the People is partnering with the St. Austere restaurant to offer
solo show opportunities. The restaurant (slated to open September 5, 2011) is located on Grand St,
in the trendy Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

The wall space for exhibition is 50 feet wide X 4 feet high, and needs a
minimum of 5 pieces.
They have track lighting to illuminate the works.
There will be an opening and will print postcards.
The restaurant will keep a price list on the premises.
Each show will be up for two months.
The venue/curator takes a 25% commission and can handle sales if desired
by the artist.
Insurance is not provided.

Accepted work must be dropped off and picked up on scheduled days: works
cannot be stored!

Sharon M. Louden is a full-time practicing, professional artist who lives and works in New York. Ms. Louden holds a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Yale University, School of Art. Louden's work is held in major public and private collections throughout the United States, Asia and Europe, including the Neuberger Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, National Gallery of Art, Arkansas Arts Center, Yale University Art Gallery, Weatherspoon Art Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, among others.

Sharon Louden has also taught studio and professional practice classes students of all levels in colleges and universities throughout the United States. Louden has lectured and taught at numerous venues including Kansas City Art Institute, College of Saint Rose, Massachusetts College of Art, Maryland Institute College of Art, and Tyler School of Art. For the past 3 years Sharon was teaching the Theory, Practice and Career course at the New School/Parsons in New York City.

Georgia Museum of Art/ Kress Foundation

Fifty years ago, the Samuel H. Kress Foundation gave a small collection of Italian Renaissance paintings to the Georgia Museum of Art. Now, in celebration of that anniversary the Georgia Museum of Art announces the Kress Project. The museum is soliciting responses to these paintings. All ages and all levels of education may participate. Details on how to submit, submission forms, images of the paintings and information on them are available on this website. At the end it will be judged by a panel who will choose up to 24 winners to be published in a book and awarded a $500 prize each. Qualifications: Open.
