Fuse Gallery seeking interns

Fuse Gallery, an artist run gallery in the east village is seeking interns for this fall and winter.
We have had several academy interns over the past few years and the director is 2006 alumna Lisa Lebofsky.

Here is a brief description of what the internship involves:
Intern responsibilities include assisting with:
• show installations
• packaging and shipment of artwork
• sales and exhibition projects
• mailing and correspondences
• everyday gallery duties

We need reliable individuals looking to expand their resume and gallery experience. We would only need them 2-3 days/month plus more if they volunteer. The gallery hours are Wed-Sat 3-8pm. Experience with OSX or later, Photoshop, Word, Excel, Entourage, Dreamweaver a plus but certainly not mandatory - interns will gain experience working with these programs regardless.

This is an exceptional opportunity to get a hands on experience with the inner workings of a gallery and meet a variety of artists, collectors and dealers.

The Department of Art at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a full-time contract faculty position in Drawing and Painting for academic year 2013/14 (08/26/2013 - 05/25/2014). This position is subject to confirmation of funding availability. Appointment will be as a contract assistant professor beginning 26 August 2013 and concluding 25 May 2014. Renewal of this appointment may be possible for an additional term or terms depending on availability of funding. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) M.F.A. in Art or equivalency (see Department of Art Policy Statement below); (2) Practicing artist in Drawing and Painting; (3) Evidence of an active exhibition record and demonstrated excellence in and recognition of dynamic ongoing creative research on a regional, national and/or international level. Department of Art Policy Statement In lieu of an M.F.A. in Art, the following could be considered in determining professional recognition and experience: 1) Advanced studies at a foreign school that does not award an M.F.A. in Art; 2) Extended advanced study with recognized artists in the field; 3) Professional achievement which would provide a depth of knowledge of the field comparable to an M.F.A. in Art; 4) Evaluation by leaders in the field attesting that the candidate's exhibition record and other professional achievement constitutes the equivalent of an M.F.A. in Art. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: One to three years university or college-level teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistantships. Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of their academic preparation and professional experience in drawing and painting; evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher; and strength of recommendations. Duties/Responsibilities TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Commitment and dedication to both undergraduate and graduate teaching in a nationally respected visual arts program within the College of Liberal Arts; (2) Teach five courses per academic year in drawing and painting within a fine arts department; (3) Advise undergraduate/graduate students; (4) Participate on graduate reviews/thesis committees. SERVICE: Serve on departmental committees RESEARCH: Engage in scholarly research or other creative activity that leads to exhibition and professional visibility. Selection Process
A multidisciplinary jury will judge proposals on the following criteria:
· The creativeness and integrity of the proposal
· Incorporation of the arts and other disciplines
· Evidence of previous exploration of environmental topics
· Creative use of ASITW resources including its natural environment and proximity to the Mississippi River
· Harmony of purpose with the ASITW mission to protect and preserve its bottomland hardwood forest
· The proposal’s public component and its depth of engagement with the community
· Please note that the fragile environment poses restrictions to what can happen on site. We ask that proposals moderate the number of visitors, penetration of the woods, and use of natural found materials.

Artist Eligibility
Visual, musician/composing, performance, literary, new media, and interdisciplinary artists. Both established and emerging artists are encouraged to apply, but a rigorous work ethic and demonstrated commitment to environmental issues are expected. Students are not eligible.

C.H.A.S. is a unique experience appealing to a broad range of patrons while exhibiting numerous artistic mediums. The ideas and concepts in the art show are rendered on multiple creative levels, allowing for an accessible experience and journey throughout the 10,000+ square feet of indoor and outdoor retail space. Crest Hardware is retooled into a recognized art gallery over the summer, in 2012 281 pieces were showcased. This year will proudly mark the 12th anniversary of the C.H.A.S.
