Visiting Assistant Professor

MFA in painting required.  Teaching experience beyond graduate assistant desired.  Beginning August 2012.  Candidate must exhibit the ability to teach observational drawing and painting, as well as printmaking classes in the context of an interdisciplinary art department that offers concentrations in painting, photography, sculpture, graphic design and art history.  Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester and oversight of the printmaking studio.  The position offers a 450 sq. studio/office space for individual use.  "Apply online at https://jobs.dom.edu". Piermont Straus Gallery and bookstore will be celebrating two great authors for an opening on Saturday, September 15. Cornelia Guest's "Simple Pleasures" and Joan Gussow's "Growing Older" will be the featured books.

We are looking for all media: painting, drawing, print, sculpture and photography on the subject of the earth, vegetables, farming, flowers, trees and all things green. Entries must include the following:

Artist name, address, phone number, title of work, size of work, media, and price of work. Please include bio, resume, and jpg.-files at 800 x 800 (72 dpi).

Submissions are due on or before August 1, 2012. Selected works must be dropped off or sent to the gallery, framed (if necessary), and ready to hang by Monday, September 3.

This event will be very well attended, and is a great opportunity for emerging artists.

Workspace Program Residency

Established in 1990, the Workspace Program provides annual residencies to New York State emerging artists to create new work in handmade paper. The program encourages emerging artists to explore the creative possibilities inherent in the hand papermaking process, to develop this medium as a contemporary art form, and also promotes the work produced in residency.

Workspace Resident artists will be selected by a panel and interview process. Each artist is paired with a master papermaker creating a unique collaborative experience where a new medium can be quickly learned and put into practice. Experimentation is highly encouraged throughout the residency.

The Workspace Program is open to emerging artists who live and work in New York State. Artists from all disciplinary and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applications will not be accepted from students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs during the program year (July 2012 - June 2013). Applicants must be New York State residents and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. Applications are only accepted via our online application; please do not mail or e-mail application materials.

Applicants will be asked to submit ten JPGs suitable for projection, a CV or resume, and to answer a few questions regarding their working process and how a residency at Dieu Donné might further their artistic practice.

The Dieu Donné Workspace Program residency includes introduction to the medium and process, 5 days in the studio with a dedicated papermaking collaborator, 2 papermaking workshops, an exhibition opportunity in the Dieu Donné ground floor gallery, and digital documentation of all the work created during the residency.

Movie Exposure


MML productions LLC, currently producing the feature film My Man is a Loser in NYC. 
We would like to get in touch with students, professors, and alumni from your school who would be interested in exposing their artwork by allowing us to use it as set decoration in our film. We are specifically looking for watercolors, portraits, and abstract oil paintings. If pieces are not framed- we would frame them and the artist would be able to keep the frames once we return their artwork during the beginning of July at the latest. The film will be shot during June and the pieces should hence be available to us throughout that month. Store Graphic Artist/Signmaker in Edgewater, NJ

Your role as a Store Graphic Artist/Signmaker will be to design and create graphics for promotions, store literature, and signage. You will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Will Do

  • Create all in-store signage by hand and using a computer including but not limited to: chalkboards, product and store signage, event flyers, posters, and calendars in a timely manner
  • Print and laminate weekly and monthly specials support signs, regional and national sign and poster programs.
  • Work with Marketing Team Leader and Store Team Leader, department Team Leaders, and Store Team Leaders to ensure all products and departments are properly and effectively signed.
  • Learn and adhere to corporate style guidelines in all materials. Establish and/or maintain store graphic style within those guidelines.
  • Ensure that signs are placed and removed at correct times.
  • Work with décor team to report missing or broken décor and other permanent signage.
  • Participate in regional training and work with Regional Graphics team on regional level projects.
  • Duties do not include web, digital or product design.
