casting - traditional plaster working of molds and casts

Assistant must have the above skills as only a limited amount of training will be offered.

Gallery Assistant - Pace Gallery, NY

Pace Gallery, a leading modern and contemporary art gallery representing some of the most significant artists and artist estates of the 20th and 21st centuries, is seeking a Gallery Assistant to welcome clients, visitors and press to the gallery. The Gallery Assistant will be responsible for answering all incoming calls, directing phone, email and in-person inquiries to the appropriate staff members as well as providing general administrative support.

Please note this is a temp-to-perm role.

Responsibilities
• Greet all clients, visitors, and press both in person and via phone.
• Act as a brand ambassador for the gallery and answer any questions or concerns.
• Answer all incoming calls to the gallery and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff members
• Open and close the gallery space each morning and evening.
• Inspect the gallery each morning prior to opening to the public to ensure security of the artwork and facility.
• Maintain regular stock of office and kitchen supplies and replenish as needed.
• Provide general administrative support to Dealers and other staff who are present in the gallery space.
• Responsible for all catalogue sales within the gallery.
• Send, receive and distribute physical mail. Coordinate with mail vendors (e.g., FedEx, couriers).
• Review general gallery email and send inquiries to appropriate staff members and respond to certain requests directly.
• Review daily Google alerts and notify Public Relations & Communications department of information relevant to Pace artists and clients.
• Rotate between gallery spaces and the Communications & Public Relations department.
• Relieve Gallery Assistants at other gallery locations during lunch breaks.
• Provide administrative assistance to other internal departments as needed.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• BA Degree (or higher) required in Art History or related degree.
• 2 – 3 years of administrative experience required.
• Prior experience working in a gallery, auction house or museum required.
• Prior experience on phones required.
• Must have poised and professional demeanor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Must be extremely organized and detailed oriented.
• Must be able to work both independently and as a team member.
• Ability to work well in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Curatorial Assistant - Queens Museum of Art

The Queens Museum of Art is dedicated to presenting the highest quality visual arts and educational programming for people in the New York metropolitan area, and particularly for the residents of Queens, a uniquely diverse ethnic, cultural and international community.

The Curatorial Assistant will provide support to the Director of Exhibitions, Curator, Registrar/Archives Manager, and Exhibition Production Manager in the preparation of exhibitions, schedules, publications and oversee daily clerical duties of the Curatorial office. 

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist in telephone and written communication with artists, curators and lenders concerning production, installation and documentation of exhibitions.
• Assist curators with exhibition research.
• Prepare exhibition labels and checklist; edit copy and obtain reproductions for publications
• Assist Exhibition Production Manager with exhibition production, including coordinating installers and equipment and supply purchase.
• Assist registrar with shipping arrangements and other exhibition- and collection-related duties.
• Maintain exhibitions calendar and update web listings in coordination with New Media/Design Specialist.
• Maintain department calendars and schedules.
• Prepare materials and assemble information packages for meetings for the Exhibitions & Acquisitions Committee.
• Attend meetings and take notes for department use.

Administrative:

• Keep and maintain files of purchase orders, invoices and budgets.
• Organize and maintain exhibition files.
• Update curatorial mailing database.
• Maintain inventory of curatorial office supplies.
• Oversee assignments and supervise curatorial interns and fellows.

Qualifications:
• Minimum B.A. M.A. in Art History, Curatorial or Museum Studies or related discipline preferred.
• Previous experience in museum or art organizations desired.
• Accurate word-processing skill 40 wpm and strong knowledge of spreadsheet, database, graphic design, and presentation software desired.
• Foreign language (s) proficiency desirable.

Salary:  $31,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.

JOB DESCRIPTION 
Award-winning marketing, advertising and public relations firm specializing in the financial services industry seeks exceptional print and interactive art director who can translate strategy and objectives into compelling visual solutions for a busy agency. Familiarity with financial services, insurance and b-to-b communications a plus. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong design skills including print and web page layouts, information design, application design, typography, photo research and be experienced in the full print production process from conception to launch. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
You will be responsible for participating in program brainstorming, concept development, design comps and photo research. Creation of visual designs that address business, brand, market and user requirements, including the design and production of site layouts, marketing elements, content treatment and user interface elements. Produce design specifications, storyboards, wire frames to support design and production. Successfully communicate visual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of your design solutions. Work with Web developers and production to ensure successful delivery of the final work products. 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE 
5+ years experience in an agency or similar team environment leading the design process of interactive and print projects. Ability to effectively communicate clients needs and requests.  Candidate must be able to work in-house.
We’re looking for an organized team player with a solid understanding of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, as well as the ability to grasp and handle multiple projects. Must demonstrate strong design skills including the ability to translate strategic, conceptual ideas into interactive experiences, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and ability to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines.

Gallery Assistant

New contemporary art gallery located in downtown Manhattan is seeking a full-time Gallery Assistant.

Requirements: •
Bachelor’s degree in an arts-related field, ideally in Fine Arts or Art History •
Must be well-organized, motivated, extremely detail-oriented, and resourceful •
A professional manner and appearance •
A high level of proficiency with Mac computers, Microsoft applications (particularly Word and Excel), Adobe Creative Suite, ArtSystems, and MailChimp •
Must be able to work independently and cooperatively, with efficiency and precision •
Knowledge of Contemporary Art is essential

Duties include, but are not limited to: •
Greeting visitors and answering phones at the front desk •
Providing general administrative support •
Maintaining mailing/e-mail lists •
Assisting with the organization of gallery exhibitions and opening receptions •
Photographing, editing, and archiving images with Photoshop as needed •
Updating artist and exhibition files •
Maintaining the website and Facebook page •

Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday (10 AM-6 PM), but some additional hours may be required for special events and openings.
