Gallery Assistant, Lower East Side

Lower East Side Gallery Seeking Gallery Assistant

We are a young gallery on the Lower East Side and are looking for a full-time gallery assistant to join our creative, organized and successful team.

Requirements for this position would include:
• Interacting with the public
• Handling gallery phone calls and general website updates
• Maintaining the gallery space in good order
• Maintaining inventory records
• Overseeing install, de-install, and exhibition openings
• Organizing shipping
• Editing and sizing images in Photoshop
• Assisting with offers
• Assisting with art fair applications, including booth/exhibition renderings
• Producing gallery materials, eg. portfolios and press packets
Desired skills:
• Photoshop/InDesign experience
• Mac familiarity
• ArtBase/Artsystems experience
• Art handling ability is a plus
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Familiarity with contemporary art, artists, and institutions

Archivist - Mike Weiss Gallery

Mike Weiss Gallery is looking for an enthusiastic and professional Artist Liaison / Archivist for immediate start.
The candidate should be intelligent, highly organized and efficient, with experience in Photoshop.
 

The Artist Liaison / Archivist role includes the following responsibilities:
Handle press inquiries.
Make sure all press and image deadlines are met.
Communicate with artists about any upcoming exhibitions; make sure they are notified upon receiving new press.
Keep an organized archive of all digital images.
Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the gallery website is up-to-date.
Schedule flights and hotel reservations.
Update the press log with press received, press pending, and blog posts.
Public relations.

Qualifications:
BA is preferable
-Excellent organizational skills and capacity to meet multiple deadlines
-Candidate must be articulate, confident, and uphold a professional demeanor at all times
-Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Outlook

Arts Administration Internship at New York Academy of Art

The Internship in Arts Administration provides experience and learning opportunities to a student interested in pursuing a career in an institution of higher education specific to the fine arts. Working closely with professional staff at the Academy, interns participate in the ongoing work of the MFA and Continuing Education departments. Tasks will include projects to support the Visiting Critics program and the Art & Culture Lecture Series, as well as registration database entry, note-taking, organization of files and calendars, and other administrative/office-based duties as assigned. In addition, the intern will also have the opportunity to attend various workshops, talks and special events. The internship is unpaid, but academic credit and letters of recommendation can be arranged with a college or university upon completion of the internship. 

Eligibility 
Consideration will be given to currently enrolled students or recent graduates from an undergraduate program with a BA or BFA degree. 

Dates 
Flexible start date, preferably mid-August. Duration of internship is negotiable with a minimum of a two-month commitment. The candidate should be available 2 or 3 days a week from 10 – 5pm.
