Artists Wanted for Open Studios

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) is seeking local artists for the Open Studios Program. Successful candidates will have extensive background working predominately in three-dimensional materials and processes. The studios are open for the public to interact informally with the working artist during regular museum hours- teaching experience is a plus. Artists are highly encouraged to visit the Open Studios at MAD to fully understand the structure of the program.

The positions are temporary adjunct part-time. This residency will run for approximately 4 months; each artist will work one regularly scheduled day/week, with select additional evening shifts. Participating artists will also have the opportunity to display their work in the museum’s 6th floor vitrines for the duration of their own residency as well as the following 4 months. Each artist will also have their bio and two images of their work featured on MAD’s website.

To learn more about Open Studios, visit www.madmuseum.org/programs/open-studios and hear from other artists in the program via www.madblog.org.

To apply, please submit a current CV, no more than 5 digital images, and a letter of interest/proposal. This proposal should describe what project(s) you will be working on during studio time, with the understanding that you will be continuously interacting with visitors while making art. Please describe the materials and techniques, as well as relevant experience teaching or interacting with the public.

MAD cannot accept original works of art, nor assume responsibility for any materials submitted.

Please send applications to: molly.macfadden@madmuseum.org.
