Teaching Artist, Assistant and Interns

Creative Arts Workshops for Kids (CAW) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that uses visual, performing, and technology arts and design to teach job and developmental skills to children and teens from economically disadvantaged backgrounds while enriching the communities of Harlem and Northern Manhattan. CAW offers free Saturday, After-school, and Summer art programs that empower youth to improve their leadership and creative problem-solving skills, appreciate consequence-based decision-making and build self-confidence and other tools for positive self expression, while deepening the relationship between themselves, art and community.

SUMMER 2012 MURALIST/ TEACHING ARTIST: CAW is seeking talented art educators with experience in mural installation for our 2012 Summer ArtWorks jobs program. CAW hosts a 7-week program in which we employ dozens of Northern Manhattan area youth to install large-scale, community-driven murals. We are looking for reliable individuals who have an interest in youth development through arts education and community revitalization. Candidates should have a history in leading large projects and working with urban adolescents.

Offsite programming begins in June. 7 Week Program: July through mid-August 2012.

INTERN @CAW: CAW is seeking interns who would like to develop real-world experience as assistants to our talented teaching artists learning the process of mural making and gaining experience in arts education. Successful interns will be considered for teaching artist positions with CAW upon completion of their degrees. Summer mural installation internships last June-August 2012.
